An Astley Bridge Councillor has come in for critiscm and has been accused of playing political games with what’s been described as a ‘deliberately’ poorly worded Council motion, ‘just so Labour could vote against it’.

Residents fear it could now scupper any chances of relieving congestion on Blackburn Road. Local campaigner Warren Fox, said if elected on May 3rd he would ‘re-write the motion’ in order to cut congestion on one of Bolton’s busiest roads.

“I feel the motion was deliberately worded in such a way just so Labour could vote against it, which doesn’t help residents at all. I would re-write the motion calling for a ‘by-pass/relief road’, which would include bringing forward development plans to connect Waters Meeting Road with Crompton Way to relieve traffic.”

Plans to connect the two roads were included in the original submission of site plans by the housing developers.
